What We Do

Putting the right resources in the hands of those doing the work

Around the world, there are approximately 2.2 million evangelical churches — and estimates suggest that as many as 85% of those in the Global South are led by pastors with no formal theological training.

The church is growing faster in the Global South than anywhere else on earth. In Africa, Asia, and Latin America, men and women are coming to faith, congregations are multiplying, and a new generation of pastors and church leaders is rising. But growth without depth is fragile.

And in much of the world, the resources that ground and strengthen Christian leadership — solid books, sound theology, the Scriptures themselves — are simply out of reach.

That is the gap that Global Christian Book Fund exists to close.

Why Send Books?

In a world of podcasts, YouTube sermons, and digital everything, why does the Global Christian Book Fund focus on sending physical books around the world? The answer is not nostalgia. It is conviction — a conviction shared by some of the most influential voices in the history of the church.

Personal Book Sets

Most Bible college graduates and pastors in the Global South serve with little more than their notes and their Bible — no commentaries, no tools to keep learning. We change that: our graduate and pastoral book sets place a small personal library — a study Bible, a Bible dictionary, essential study tools — into the hands of new and veteran leaders alike, many of whom never had formal training, becoming the foundation of a lifetime of faithful ministry and an investment in everyone they'll ever serve.

Bible School Libraries

Our primary work is getting the right books into the hands of pastors, students, and educators shaping the church in their communities — commentaries, pastoral theology, church history, and biblical studies, procured and shipped through publishers and partners. We let our partners choose the books, because they know their context better than we do — so what arrives actually gets used, not left sitting in a corner. The effect of a single well-equipped leader extends further than we can measure.

Bible Distribution

In many countries, a Bible costs the equivalent of a month's wages — if it's available at all. That's not a resource problem; it's a crisis. We partner with ministries already distributing Scriptures overseas, trusting their judgment on where Bibles are needed most and resourcing their work to close that gap. The Word of God isn't a supplement to everything else we do — it's the foundation, since no library, book set, or theological training means anything apart from access to Scripture itself.
