For many leaders, access to the right resources shapes how they think, how they lead, and how they serve. For Rev. Dr. Pastor David Musooli of Transform Church in Kampala, Uganda, access to quality books did more than grow his knowledge — it transformed his ministry, raised new leaders, and contributed to the planting of new churches.
Pastor Musooli recalls a time when getting the materials he needed felt out of reach.
“During my journey, one of the challenges I experienced was accessing resources while studying and doing ministry. It was difficult to find books and materials that could help advance my ministry and the gospel of Jesus Christ in our nation.”
That reality changed when he discovered the Pastors Discipleship Network library, supported by the Global Christian Book Fund. What started as a simple visit quickly became a consistent investment in his growth. He subscribed annually and made the library a regular part of his study and ministry preparation.
The impact was not just academic — it was deeply practical.
A key turning point came when he engaged with Spiritual Leadership by Henry and Richard Blackaby, a book that challenged him to rethink how he approached leadership and ministry. It prompted a shift toward aligning his work more intentionally with God’s purpose, influencing both his personal leadership style and how he guided others.
Another major influence came from Leading Change by John Kotter. Drawing from the book’s eight-stage framework, Pastor Musooli trained leaders within his church, equipping them with practical tools to manage and sustain transformation.
“I studied the eight stages of leading change and used them to train leaders in my church. We walked through the process together with one goal — to see real change in our ministry.”
The results were visible and measurable.
“Our church has grown, we have planted a second church, and one of the leaders I trained is now leading that branch. This is the kind of impact that comes from access to the right knowledge.”
Beyond the pulpit, Pastor Musooli is also shaping the next generation of leaders in academia. As a lecturer at Africa Renewal University, he teaches master’s and PhD students, including courses in advanced research methodology. Yet even in this space, the challenge of accessing relevant and affordable materials remains significant.
“There are resources that are very difficult to find in our context. Even when you find them, they are very expensive. Some books are simply not available on the local market.”
Through the support of the Global Christian Book Fund, that gap is steadily being addressed. Access to globally relevant materials at little to no cost is equipping not just individual leaders, but entire networks of pastors, students, and institutions.
Across Uganda, many leaders share the same desire to grow and serve effectively, yet remain limited by access to the right tools. As more of these resources reach those who need them, the ripple effect continues to expand — strengthening churches, raising capable leaders, and transforming communities.
Pastor Musooli’s journey reflects what becomes possible when access meets purpose. It is a reminder that when leaders are equipped with the right knowledge, the impact goes far beyond one individual — it reaches families, institutions, and communities.
